Dr. Melissa Broderick is the Owner and a practicing Pediatric Physical Therapist at Power of Movement Physical Therapy since 2007. She is a New York and Connecticut State Licensed Physical Therapist.  She received a Bachelor in Health Science and a Master in Physical Therapy from Touro College in 2003, graduating Cum Laude.  She holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Touro College with a clinical focus in Pediatrics. She is committed to providing the highest quality Pediatric Physical Therapy to children and their families in the NY/CT area.

As a former Level 10 gymnast, Melissa was first introduced to the world of physical therapy at age 9 as a patient, receiving intervention on and off for 14 years, and this is what sparked her interest in the field.  While in graduate school, Melissa became a personal trainer and developed a passion for fitness, driving her to compete in all natural bodybuilding and figure competitions. She continues to utilize this knowledge to create fun, play-based strengthening programs for her young patients.

In addition to her degrees, Melissa has specialized clinical training that has earned her the prestigious Professional Certifications in Pediatrics that include:

  • Pediatric Neuro-Developmental Treatment (C/NDT) - a specialized form of handling specifically geared for the treatment of children with neuropathologies (cerebral palsy, strokes, traumatic brain injuries)

  • Advanced Certification for NDT Baby Handling

  • Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner (CKTP), successfully completing all 4 levels

Melissa is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), Neuro-Developmental Therapy Association (NDTA), and the Kinesio Taping Association International (KTAI). She lectures to hospitals, pediatricians, daycare professionals, teachers, Moms groups of Westchester, and to parents throughout Westchester and Putnam County on infant development, torticollis, plagiocephaly prevention, and toe walking.  Melissa is also a clinical instructor.

Melissa works collaboratively with the child, their family and/or caregivers, teachers, and the medical team to develop a comprehensive treatment program. For the past 19 years, she has specialized solely in pediatrics, working in private practice, early intervention, preschool and school-aged special education programs.  She has also worked in the orthopedic setting.

Melissa is extremely passionate about her field of work and she enjoys forming lasting relationships with children and their parents and working with them to improve their child's physical well-being.
