Allison McNamara

PT, DPT

Allie became interested in the field of physical therapy after tearing her ACL while competing in gymnastics on her high school team. She underwent surgery and was amazed at how much physical therapy helped her regain strength and mobility, and allowed her to be able to participate in dance and gymnastics once again.

Allison graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science and minor in Psychology at Rutgers University in 2003. She graduated from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, School of Health Related Professional, with a Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy in 2007. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate education, Allie worked as an aide in an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic with the therapists who treated her years before.

Allie began her career working in outpatient, sub-acute, and acute care settings. After several years, Allie began working in pediatrics and spent 8 years working in a pediatric facility with one of the largest populations of ventilator dependent children in the country. She has extensive experience working with early intervention and preschool children, as well as children in a school setting.

Allie has studied the Halliwick method of aquatic therapy and worked in aquatics for 9 years. Allie believes that patience, a team-based approach, collaboration, creativity, flexibility, and positivity in all PT sessions leads to the most positive outcomes for everyone. In addition to working at PoM, she work in an adult outpatient clinic. She is passionate about helping the people she treats achieve their goals – be it a baby learning how to crawl, an athlete returning to sport, or an elderly person navigating stairs without falling.
